Granny stripe crocheted bag with a wooden cat in a scraf

Many years ago, I loved the idea of a granny stripe bag by Tangled Happy. The bag started with chains joined together and after a few rounds of single crochets it changed into granny stripes. It turned out very pretty, but I was a bit confused about how to sew the bottom of the bag nicely together. So, making this pattern, I based my pattern on an oval – I thought it would be a bit more convenient to use and easier to make as there is no sewing at all. If you ever made a bag with a Tangled Happy pattern before, my bag is a bit smaller. Later I will give you instructions how to adjust the size.

This pattern is perfect for beginners, as a granny stripe stitch is very easy to learn. I end each row with a slip stitch, and every row has the same number of stitches. It easily allows you to introduce new colors into each row, so it’s a great project to use up some stash!
