Materials
You’ll need the following supplies to complete this Heart C2C crochet potholder:
- Medium (4) cotton yarn in 2 colors
- 5 mm (H/8) hook
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
- Stitch markers (optional)
The sample potholder was made using Classic Cotton™ by Loops & Threads®, but any similar Medium (4) cotton yarn can be used. One skein of each color is more than enough for this project, with plenty left over for future projects. Using a different yarn weight, hook size, or C2C variation will change the finished size and yarn requirements.
If you’re making this as a potholder, use 100% cotton yarn and avoid synthetic fibers, which may melt when exposed to high heat.

🟨 Color Blocks Instructions
Quickly track every color change by row
The Color Blocks Instructions provide a quick visual summary of each row using colored blocks and stitch counts. They follow the same order as the graph, making them a fast and convenient way to track color changes without referring to the full chart. This format is especially helpful when working from a printed pattern or a mobile device.
📌 Notes
Each row shows:
- The crochet direction (↙ RS or ↗ WS)
- The color sequence for that row
- The number of C2C blocks in each color
- The total number of blocks to crochet

Border
The border is completely optional. Since I had some leftover yarn, I decided to finish my potholder with two simple rounds of border.
Round 1: Work 1 single crochet (sc) between each C2C block, separated by ch 2. In each corner, work (sc, ch 2, sc).
Round 2: Work 2 sc into each ch-2 space from the previous round. In each corner, work (sc, ch 2, sc) into the corner ch-2 space.

Finishing
Once you've completed the final row, fasten off and weave in all yarn ends securely using a yarn needle.
Enjoy your finished Heart C2C Crochet Potholder!
