Traditional Snowflake Ornament: Lacy 8-Pointed Star

A long time ago, I made those snowflake ornaments to be used as linen napkin wrappers. They are big enough to hold a napkin around, and you can still tie the ends at the back. Lately, I came back to this pattern to make a matching Crochet Cutlery Holder. Both of those snowflakes are a perfect match for an elegant table.

The pattern was originally published by the American Thread Company in the 1951 Crochet for Christmas Book. I made a few corrections. The original pattern you may find on Ravlery.

I stiffen and pin this snowflake using the 8-pointed star blocking layout on the Snowflake Blocking Template I made for my crocheted snowflake collection: You can grab it for free and print for your own use.
